In 1519, a Spanish conquistador named Hernan Cortes set off to conquer the Aztec Empire with 600 soldiers.

Upon arrival, he and his men came to the realization that they were severely outnumbered. Many of the soldiers wanted to retreat, thinking they would surely lose to the tens of thousands of Aztec soldiers.

Hearing this, Cortes ordered the Spanish ships to be dismantled and burned. This ensured complete commitment to the mission at hand.

With the help of numerous allies in the region who opposed Aztec rule, the Spanish army was able to overcome the odds. In the end, Cortes succeeded with his mission.

By no means am I an advocate for colonialism, But I do think that if you truly have faith in yourself, you can overcome even the most challenging obstacles in life. This painting is a testament to that philosophy.
